The war is still continuing between COVID 19 & Cyber-security
“More than 1,225,000 Infection, more than 66,500 victims”
These are the official numbers – up to the moment of writing these lines – of the casualties of the new COVID 19 virus attacking the world since the last Jan, leaving behind many economic and social negative effects that may need days of talking to cover.
The coronavirus has affected everything, health, economics, tourism industry, marketing, start-ups, and small projects; it has affected even digital technology and computers! Even in a country ranked first in the Cybersecurity field, we are talking about the United States!
The world has been witnessing consecutive digital attacks that have been affecting health systems, hospitals, and food supplies.
Those attacks have prompted a senior Republican official in the United States to make statements threatening anyone trying to launch any future hacks, At a critical time when criticism of President Donald Trump’s performance has increased, which some have described as insufficient to stop hackers attacks that have been harassing cybersecurity experts in the country.
All of this happens at a time that the USA lives their worst scenario; the rate of work or study from home increased to ten times the normal rates while no one can guarantee the minimum level of protection to those new networks.
Rumors have just begun.
While efforts are supposed to unite against coronavirus, there are always those who insist on promoting electronic rumors that will eventually lead to panic among citizens, and of course, rumors are the popular material that most hackers use in cyberattacks, an example of This is what happened after a big rumor claimed that all food supplies are about to run out in supermarkets! That prompted many people to flow to the outlets of selling goods and food in large numbers.
All of this leads to several questions: How can the strongest country in the world in the field of cybersecurity be exposed to these cyber threats at this critical time? Why the names of those involved in the successive attack are not announced?
Preparations in the Arab world:
The Moroccan Center for Research in Multiple Technologies and Innovation (CMRPI) Addressed a few days ago all Internet users and information systems security officials to raise the maximum level of caution when using the Internet and digital systems, stressing that hackers exploit the lack of users’ awareness of the rules of safe browsing, which makes them vulnerable to organized attacks targeting institutions that They work in.
While the situation is not very different in Saudi Arabia, which is taking continuous procedures after the attack on one of their press platforms early last year before it was successfully thwarted, mentioning another attack that was thwarted also earlier this year from a hostile government
